Animals are a big part of my family. Since we've met, my wife and I have rescued 3 that adopted us in various ways. One cat-Gretchen, who adopted us in 1995, one dog-Nickie who adopted us in 1996, and one Tortoise-L.G. that we rescued from what looked like certain death. Since then we have donated to animal shelters every year, throughout the year. Sometimes we donate blankets and pet food, sometimes household items that they can sell in their thrift shops to raise money and once annually we donate a large sum of cash. In fact, it has gotten to the point where we now ask for gifts to us to be made as cash donations, to local animal shelters, in our names.
